Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions- please feel free to Contact Us if you have any additional questions.
Are your products suitable for those with specific allergies?
Our kitchen uses known allergens such as peanuts & tree nuts, wheat, soy, eggs and milk, so ingredients and utensils used to prepare your items may have come in contact with these products (even if you have selected flavours that do not include a particular ingredient in the recipe). Additionally, it is impossible to guarantee that certain allergens have not "strayed" onto products that do not include a particular ingredient in the recipe. Please [Contact Us] with inquiries regarding the inclusion or specific allergens in the recipes or specific items.
I don't see any prices...How much do your cakes cost?
Pricing for our custom cakes are determined by a few variables, such as the number of servings and the intricacy of your chosen cake design. If the original design is not in line with your budget, we are happy to make alternative suggestions, so please feel free to inquire.
How do I place an order?
For custom cakes and desserts we recommend that your order be placed at least 14 days in advance, depending on the complexity of your creation. For a custom cake in shorter notice, please contact us via phone to discuss your options; we do our best to accommodate last minute custom orders, however we cannot guarantee availability as we are at times fully booked.
Can I order online?
We are working on building an online ordering system- stayed tuned! In the meantime, you can always send us an order by emailing dxcdessertstudio@gmail.com.
Do you deliver?
Delivery options are available throughout the NYC Metro area- please inquire for a quote.
Do you ship?
Unfortunately, we can not ship cakes or cupcakes at this time- they are too fragile. However, we can ship certain desserts, such as Cookies, Chocolate Apples and Chocolate Covered Treats via FedEx Priority Shipping...please note that FedEx fees can be quite steep!
Cake Care Instructions
Cake Care Instructions:
We do our best to prepare & support your cake for transport.
We have several helpful suggestions for traveling with & storing your cake so it arrives in great condition.
Transporting your cake:
Always keep the box/cake level. Do not tilt cake box.
Make sure to support the bottom of the box when carrying
Secure a flat & level surface in your car to place cake during transport (Passenger floorboard is ideal).
*We do not recommend having someone hold the cake on their lap. We do not recommend placing the cake in the seat of a car.*
Keep car cooler than usual. Cake & frosting get very soft in warm environments.
- NEVER leave cake in a hot car or in the trunk!
- Allow extra time for transporting your cake to the event site. Drive slow. Try to avoid sudden stops.
Storing your cake:
Please refrigerate your cake; please allow 2 hours for cake to come to room temperature before serving.
Additional instructions:
Keep cake away from direct sunlight, moisture, & heat as it may dry out, fade, or the frosting could melt.
Remove all dowels, wires, and support material (if any) before serving.
Once the cake has been cut, the exposed cake should be covered with plastic wrap or foil and then refrigerated to keep it from drying out.
***Cupcakes, cookies, desserts & chocolate covered treats should be placed in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and quality of the product.***
Fondant and Buttercream protects the cake for up to 5 days.
***Please Note: all of our cakes and baked goods contain Dairy, Egg, Nut Products & Gluten, unless otherwise specified.***
